It’s been a while since we’ve tapped in to our our ‘Meet the Team’ series. This week, we hear from Design Assistant and Production Coordinator, Richard. One of the newer additions to the awesome crew at Arlo & Co, Richard brings a sense of calm, can-do attitude and design smarts to his role.
Richard: Designer, Doting Dad, Football Fan, Quiet Achiever
Richard has been on the scene here at Arlo & Co since September 2017. Prior to his arrival in our workshop, he spent many years working in sports retail, predominantly with AFL clubs St. Kilda, North Melbourne and Hawthorn. Richard had varied roles within the merchandising departments at these clubs, including systems implementation and graphic design. He was even lucky enough to have worked during four Grand Finals.
A typical day begins with Richard checking for new customer design orders. This could be anything from a Birthday Board, to a Cake Topper or Custom Quote Plaque. He enjoys spending time liaising with customers to perfect their designs, before preparing the materials and popping them into production. Throughout the day, Richard may sit and brainstorm an exciting new product with Gem and Damian, work in production with the workshop team, or collaborate with Nat and Soph in customer care. Any or all of these things could be happening at once, which is what excites Richard the most about his work here.

- Visit anywhere in the world? The Canadian Rockies, especially Lake Louise. I’m lucky enough to have been twice, but would go again in a second.
- Last book you read? I read Spot Visits His Grandparents to my beautiful 3 year-old son Wes and gorgeous 5 month-old daughter Charlotte.
- Favourite Arlo product? Birthday Boards. I love it when customers come to me with their inspiration and I can help them to create a totally unique design.
